Anyone who knows me well will know that I take any opportunity possible to host a party. I just absolutely love the excitement of the planning, the fun in preparing and decorating and the pure joy of seeing all of my guests enjoy themselves. It’s just an absolutely fabulous feeling and I’d probably host one a week if I was given the chance!
I set up a fortnightly crochet club whilst living in Bath, Somerset a few years ago and I’m really happy to say that it is still running on a regular basis. Last year we enjoyed a Christmas meal together at a local restaurant, but I thought it would be really lovely to host a Christmas house party this year. Andrew (my husband) and I moved away from Bath to buy our first house almost two years ago and we live in a fairly rural location. Most people…

Today, 1st December 2006, marks the end of my first year of blogging. It was this day last year that I first signed up with WordPress.com and started my Atariboy blog.
I feel a real sense of achievement from this, I’ve stuck with something for a whole year, posting at least once a week and sometimes three or four times a day.
It’s been quite a year, looking back through my old posts (except for the missing Fishbitt months) has brought back a lot of memories. I went from an unknown blogger to pretty popular and then back down again, my blogging ’style’ has changed quite a lot too.
I used to post stuff to get noticed, promoting my blog all over the place and doing loads of tech journalist style posts, but I feel my stuff has become a lot more personal and I think I like it that way.
I’ve learnt so much in the past year, found a great direction in life and I can definitely say that I’m happy with the way its going.
I’d like to say a big thank you to all my regular readers, I don’t think I would have kept up the effort if it wasn’t for the great responses and friends I’ve made from my various blogs.
I guess I must be doing something right if I’m still going after a year, it doesn’t feel like a chore at all, I really look forward to writing stuff and hearing what people think.
Most of my family and friends keep up with Teabass now as well, so it’s a great place not only for geeky stuff but to keep everyone informed with what I’m doing.
Happy One Year of Blogging to me, I hope next year is just as good!!
I’m blogging at Teabass.com now days, go have a read :)
It’s been quite a while since I last blogged on WordPress.com, so I thought it was time for a quick update.
It has transformed into more of a journal, with less techincal stuff, reviews and guides and more of a diary. It details all the things going on in my life at the moment, which happen to be quite a lot!
I’ve finished Uni, although I still have an exam and piece of coursework to retake.
I’ve also started to go through the motions of setting up my own business, named Fishbitt. The website is not quite finished yet although it should be up within a week or so.
A few days ago I launched AndrewonRails.com, a blog/site following my journey into Ruby on Rails.
I’m pretty pround of the theme, which I made myself and I’ll be posting there daily too. If your just starting on RoR or already riding the Rails then check it out.
I’m still using Flickr too, almost up to one thousand pictures.
Some other useful links of mine are on my ClaimID which has links to all my online profiles and any sites I have something to do with, be it designer, contributer or just one of my domant domains.
Quick look at the stats shows I’ve had 100,000 views since I last posted here, there are still quite a few people subscribed to the feed and I’ve had 3,420 spam comments!!
From today you wont find any new posts at Atariboy.wordpress.com.
I’ve had a great time with wordpress.com, the past 5 months on here have taught me a huge amount about blogging, the web and computers in general. I’ve had over 300,000 views, upwards of 400 subscribes and a top 5500 ranking on technorati.
I feel that I have outgrown wordpress.com, i feel very limited by them now; long and frequent downtime, a crappy and buggy editor and the lack of customisation. WordPress.com blogs are perfect for people who are jsut starting blogging or dont have much in the way of technical knowledge (we cant all be supergeeks!), but for me its just not enough anymore.
I’ve spent the last couple days setting up my new blog called Fishbitt.com
Its a wordpress install with a custom theme called Yellesh which i have modded to my own needs. Hosted on Dreamhost so i shouldnt have any bandwidth troubles either.
This will be my personal blog. Photography, geeky stuff and whats going on in my life, my geeky articles and tutorials will be put on GeekLimit.com.
I won’t be deleting this blog just yet, it has a good google ranking and gets a lot of hits which i can forward to my other sites now.
The only thing with Fishbitt at the moment is that the logo is a PNG and IE6 does not like PNGs!! The logo looks pretty rough, other than that it works on most browsers i think.
Just woke up and realised that i have 7 days to finish my three reports so this blog might have to take a bit of a backseat for a week.
Getting my hair cut today so expect a poseriffic picture on flickr if i like it!
Still have a stinking cold which is slowly moving to my chest, not good. If i get a chest infection, which i normally do i could be out of action for a week or more. Damn Asthma!
Over on GeekLimit.com we got our first days stats in, 8700 visits and 13700 page views yesterday… WOW! I'm also informed that we have about 260 people subscribe via RSS, thanks very much to everyone whos been reading and commenting on it, we have another authors starting today: Comaboy and should have Leeanna from Geekplus and Kai from CC19.co.uk starting at the weekend.
Its all go!
Pic of yesterday: My Shoe!
GeekLimit.com has been alive for about half a day now, we've got about 6 posts and had some good feedback. I'm currently fighting with the WordPress rich text editor to get the XHTML and CSS to validate better but it keeps changing my code back when i hit save ;(
I've also got the first lot of stats in (we get daily stats rather than constantly updated ones) and they are looking pretty good at about 300 for the first day. Had an issue with the feed but its sorted out now too.
Talking of stats i just noticed that this blog ticked over the 300,000 mark today!
I've got a horrible cold at the moment and feeling pretty crappy but it gives me a chance to blog lots so its not all bad :)
I've taken to posting one new picture on Flickr a day, choosing my best and only putting that one up, seems to get me more comments and views on them that way.
