Spring Cleaning

with 3 comments

I've been busy cleaning the whole house and my computer the last couple of days.

Thats a pretty big thing for me, seeing as I'm student, a lazy one at that. Everything is nice and clean and working well. I've got the house to myself for a few days. I cant wait to get a place of my own, not having to worry about crappy housemates and having complete control of your own little space. I'm feeling a lot like that with my blog as well at the moment.

I've got a bit of an announcement to make tomorrow, something that i think many of the regular readers will enjoy and subscribe to, but that will have to wait until tomorrow :P

I've been making good use of my brothers laptop recently, blogging and typing up my report from my bed, its weird feeling almost like writing in a note pad while sitting on the sofa rather than being sat upright and proper at the pc. If you have a notebook/laptop and have never tried it then your missing out!

Talking of the PC, I'm planning some upgrades in the next week or two, mainly storage because i just dont have the money to do much more than that at the moment. I'm thinking of maybe a RAID5 or 6 configuration or having a Backup RAID1 to put all my important stuff on, I've got room for 8 more HDDs, I might as well make use of them!

I did have a few links to post, but it seems that i have managed to delete my blog folder.. grrrrr

Feed stats

with 5 comments

I'd like to say a big Hello and thankyou to everyone who has been reading my blog via my feed. Yesterday that was about 456 of you!!

Bloglines seem to be the most popular at about 40%, which is suprising considering that there are, at least in my opinion, many better ways of reading your feeds.

Everytime i hear a new stat about my blog I'm amazed, especially considering I havn't posted anything interesting very this week. I'm sorry for the lack of good content and links, I'll try and make it up to you faithful readers next week.

For now you'll just have to enjoy BBspot and Shirley's blog.

Photoshop Filters

I've been playing with photoshop again, this time tweaking the standard filters to get different effects on the nano picture, looking pretty sweet i think.

I still don't have much to post about, i've been busy finishing up a few bits coursework and organising what revision i have to start next week.  I'm also working on another project which will be live in the next couple of weeks, very interesting stuff, i'll have more news on that next week.

All of that has added up to me not really keeping tabs on the current news much, although i hear there hasn't been that much interesting stuff since Bootcamp.

I've started listening to a Podcast, my first subscription to one anyway, which is "" really good stuff and i like how he doesnt dumb it down at all, just about at the right level of detail for me without boring or confusing me.

Feel free to suggest any other tech Podcasts and i'll check them out.

I also stumbled across an Internet Health Report, which basically shows the quality of important connections across the world that hold the net together.

I've also been brainstorming allsort of programs and firefox extensions that I 'd like to make or at least look into after my exams, i've come up with some interesting ideas, including making my own neural network which i can use as standalone or put into other projects. But i'm going to need to learn a bit more of certain things to do them, including:

  •  Javascript
  • C++
  • Illustrator
  • C#/
  • PHP
  • Ruby on Rails

Very web orientated stuff there, lots of things seem to be going that way, and a number of programs including Firefox and Songbird are based on XUL and Javascript for the UIs, plus it should improve my website in the process.Blog of the day: Pixelslut
